Instructor Certification Level Three

The instructor should be able to recognize and write these elements in music in addition to the elements in Certification Levels One and Two.

TONALITY

1. Scales and key signatures:
     · Major: all 15 keys, including enharmonics
     · Minor, natural, harmonic, melodic: all 15 keys
     · Circle of Keys
     · Chromatic scale
2. Names and Roman numerals of scale degrees in harmonic minor keys
3. Intervals: Perfect, Major, minor, Augmented, diminished
4. Chords/triads:
     · Major, minor, diminished, Augmented triads:
               Root position and inversions - all keys
· All triads in all Major and minor scales by name, quality
· Dominant 7 th and diminished 7th: all keys and inversions
· Primary and secondary triads in harmonic minor triads
· Chord progressions
· Quality of chords built on major scale degrees

TIME AND RHYTHM

1. Write in counts for simple and compound meters
